Premier Marinas Berthing Fee Holiday - In the event of serious injury or serious illness
If you have a current 12 month berthing licence with Premier Marinas that commences on or before 31st December 2010, you are entitled to a Berthing Fee Holiday if you are unable to use your boat as a result of serious injury or illness.
In these circumstances, and if your claim is successful, we undertake to credit your account with the equivalent of up to three months' annual berthing fees, pro-rata. This credit can be used against the cost of a consecutive annual berthing licence with Premier Marinas Limited and is subject to the following terms and conditions.
Definitions
In the context of the words in this offer the following meanings apply:
Berth Holder
The Berth Holder is defined here as the person whose name appears on a berthing contract with Premier Marinas Limited. This scheme applies only to Premier Berth Holders with berthing licences for periods of 12 months or more and is not applicable to commercial operators.
Berthing Fees
Fees you have contracted to pay Premier Marinas Limited for berthing your boat in a Premier Marina.
Serious Injury or Serious Illness
Serious injury or serious illness applies where the injury or illness is of sufficient severity to prevent you, as the registered Berth Holder, from using your boat.

Qualifying Conditions
To benefit from the Scheme claimants must:
- Have a Premier 12 month berthing licence which commences on or before 31st December 2010;
- Be unable to use the boat that is the subject of their Premier berthing licence for a minimum period of at least two weeks;
- Keep to the terms and conditions of this policy;
- Try to prevent anything happening that may cause a claim;
- Supply us with full details (in writing) of the claim event at the outset of the period over which you are unable to use your boat due to serious injury or serious illness;
- Supply us with evidence of the claim event in the form of either;
- a medical certificate issued by your GP.
- or a letter from your GP; and/or medical consultant confirming your medical condition
What is not covered by the Berthing Fee Holiday
- A claim where at the time of taking out or renewing your berthing licence you were aware, or should reasonably have been aware, of a serious injury or a serious illness which would prevent you from using your boat for ANY purpose.
- A claim where you have failed to notify your Marina Office of serious injury or illness using the claim form and claims process detailed below.
- A serious injury or serious accident arising before you took out a berthing licence with Premier.
- A claim which is fraudulent, exaggerated or dishonest or where an allegation of dishonesty or violent behaviour has been made against the berth holder.
- A claim arising when payment of your berthing fees is in arrears.
- A claim which is covered by an insurance policy, or any claim that would have been covered by any other policy if this scheme did not exist.
- There is no cover for the first month's berthing fees following the incident.
- A claim made after Premier has cancelled the Scheme. For the avoidance of doubt Premier can cancel this scheme at any time.
- More than 1 claim per year.
Making A Claim
1. Request a Premier Marinas Berthing Holiday Claim form from your marina or from Tracey Jefkins berthholiday@premiermarinas.com / 01489 885000
2. Complete the claim form providing the following details:
Date of occurrence
- the date of the event, or the earliest date on which you could reasonably have been aware of the event that led to a claim.
- If there is more than one event arising at different times from the same. originating cause, the date of occurrence is the date of the first of these events.
- Details of the serious injury or serious illness prevents you from using your boat - to include a medical certificate from your doctor.
Serious Injury or Serious Illness
- Details of the injury or illness that is so severe that it prevents you from using your boat.
- Claims for serious illness or serious injury will be honoured under the Berthing Fee Holiday scheme providing that they are backed by medical evidence that supports that you are unable to use your boat for ANY purpose. Medical evidence includes a doctor's certificate or letter.
3. Return the completed claims form including supporting documentation by post;
