DRY STACK

Posted by SamW

Good news from Gosport, planning permission has now been granted for a brand new dry stack facility. The dry stack will be positioned on the site of a demolished industrial unit towards the back of the car park.

The two three story stacks with an eventual capacity of 152 boats, will be capable of housing most types of powerboat up to 10 meters in length. A specially adapted forklift truck has already been ordered and is currently on its way to the marina from the states. The structure itself will be ordered in the next few weeks.

With the planning hurdle now behind us we are looking forward to the grand opening. With the first 80 berths open well in time for this year’s season. Premier will be offering an introductory 10% discount on new 12 month dry berthing contracts.

If you would like further information on the dry stack at Gosport please email us at gosport@premiermarinas.com.

QHM Portsmouth

Posted by SamW

The Queen’s Harbour Master (QHM) Portsmouth; Commander Steve Hopper RN along with his 28 Staff make up the regulatory authority for the Dockyard of Portsmouth. With an area covering around 130sq Km including Portsmouth Harbour itself and most of the Eastern Solent; his team carry out a wide range of duties to guarantee the safe, smooth running of the port for all craft.

QHM’s website is a great place for anyone visiting the harbour as it has guides to entering the port and the harbour rules, such as; the requirement to request permission to cross the main channel. Also on the site you can find local notices to mariners (LNTMs) which detail movements in the harbour, special events and military exercises etc. Other useful information on the site, Navigational Warnings; keeping you up to date with hazards to navigation such as unlit buoys and Daily Shipping Movements.

I can highly recommend signing up to receive their LNTMs and Navigational Warnings by email as this is the best way to keep up to date with important port information. You can sign up here.
