Premier Marinas Limited is continually investing in improving facilities available on site to its Berth Holders and Visitors and this year is no different. Two major refurbishment schemes have taken place at two of Premier's largest marinas, Brighton and Port Solent and Gosport Marina achieved 5 Gold Anchors.
Port Solent is proud to be in a position to boast probably the best set of shore facilities on the South Coast, if not the country, having spent £400,000 on a major refurbishment.
A thorough design brief and consultation with customers has resulted in very high quality unisex wet-room style 'bathrooms' being constructed with individual facilities for berth-holders and separate facilities for visitors and those crews involved in large events.
Included in these facilities are spacious family rooms carefully designed to make ablutions with the smaller crew members easier! Hair-drying stations and vanity areas with huge mirrors complete the facility
The berth-holder facilities are accessed via a small private lounge area with views across the marina where gentle piped music will ease boat owners and their crews into the day.
In the background of the refurbishment, and out of sight, is an extensive mechanical and electrical system which provides heat through underfloor heating, efficient and powerful ventilation to remove damp air and a limitless supply of softened hot water using the latest technology in water boilers.

At Brighton Marina the East Jetty Toilet and Shower Block refurbishment is nearing completion. Works including replacement of the floor, retiling the shower cubicles, new shower controls and the refurbishment of the disabled toilets started in February and are scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2009.
The Southern and middle sections of the facilities were opened in time for the April Bank Holiday weekend and positive feedback has been received regarding the great improvements made.
One customer, a berth holder at Brighton commented in a letter to the marina manager:

...is a delight to use the facilities and I know I speak for a good number of the berth holders on the East Jetty....

Once the Northern 'Ladies' end of the facilities has been completed, Premier intend to install compact seating and shelving arrangements to the cubicles to try and make life that little bit easier.

As recognition of Premier's continual investment in our marinas Gosport Marina was the fifth Premier Marina to achieve the 5 Gold Anchors award from The Yacht Harbour's Association.
Marinas are assessed on a number of areas including number of berths, types of berths, access, facilities including shower and changing, fuel and car parking, onsite services, marina equipment, staffing, and charges.
Marinas are then rated with between three and five gold anchors with five being the highest achievement. Brighton, Chichester, Port Solent and Sovereign Harbour are the other marinas in the group already holding 5 Gold Anchors.
