Marina: Sovereign Harbour

On the 14 September 2009 an RAF Chinook helicopter arrived at Sovereign Harbour for a training exercise with the Eastbourne Lifeboat.

The RAF crew members landed on the peninsular at the North Harbour at 10:30 hours and dropped off personnel who then headed out to sea with the Eastbourne RNLI crew onboard the all weather lifeboat.

The exercise in the sea took place off the coast of Eastbourne near Eastbourne Pier where the RAF personnel were winched from the lifeboat up into the helicopter.

The Lifeboat coxswain Mark Sawyer said, "This was an exciting training exercise for both the Eastbourne RNLI and the RAF crew members" and he thanked Premier Marinas for the use of their land at Sovereign Harbour.
