Falmouth Dredging Update

Date posted: Tuesday 15th December 2009

Marina: Falmouth Inside

Premier Marinas commissioned  Coast Line Surveys, a tenant of Falmouth Marina, to take eight core samples from the Marina bed...

The working vessel Grey Bear arrived during a break in the weather, the week commencing the 7th December to undertake the work.

The cores will be analysed for contaminants to establish whether the dredge spoil can be moved to the site of the now defunct China Clay pit at St Austell, 25 miles away.

This operation hopefully will progress Premier Marinas, Falmouth towards being issued with a dredging disposal licence to enable us to dredge the outer basin.

The Laboratory results will not be known until February 2010. However if the contamination is too high, a disposal licence will be sort using the trench method of placing the contaminate in a deep set of trenches and taking the clean spoil to sea.
