Falmouth Oyster Festival has become acknowledged as a must travel to event by visitors and holiday makers from all over the country.
Timed to coincide with the start of the oyster harvesting season, the festival celebrates the quality of Cornish seafood and one of the last remaining oyster fisheries still dredging under sail and oar.
A celebrity chef will open the festival on Thursday morning. There will be oyster tasting, free cookery demonstrations and live music. There is also a Cornish crafts and produce marquee, oyster shucking competition, and children's shell painting.
There will also be evening entertainment until 11.00pm on the weekend evenings.
