It's important to make sure you maintain your boat - part of which should involve regular boat lifts out of the water to carry out essential maintenance.

Some boat owners will get their boat lifted out of the water for the whole of winter to reduce the risks of osmosis - while others will lift their boat for just a short period of time, perhaps to change the anodes and give the hull and scrub down or apply a fresh coat of antifoul.
