FAQS
Our Marinas - Brighton
Are there any sailing schools on site?
Plenty. Neilson, SailnetUK and Lagoon Watersports, all operate RYA practical and theory courses for a range of abilities whether it is a case of refreshing old skills, or learning new ones, including boat handling, VHF, or training you on your own boat.
Do boat trips run from the marina?
There is plenty of choice. We have full details in the Brighton Marina Guide and on the website. They range from hour-long trips to the pier and back, to charter vessels, which run longer fishing and diving trips.
Is there a chandlery or yacht equipment store on site?
There is a good selection at the marina, which should be able to cater to all your needs, including yacht rigging, clothing, rope, hardware or anti-foul paint.
Why not check out our website www.boatsandchandlery.com - you can advertise chandlery items that you no longer use for free to our entire customer base - or browse the available items in search of that invaluable second hand spare.
What if something goes wrong with my boat and I need specialist help?
There is a wide selection of contractors on site, including, marine engineers, electronics specialists, painters, shipwrights and riggers. In addition, we have a 60-ton travel hoist, Boat Scrubber and boat shed.
What security measures do you have in place to protect my boat?
We operate 24-hour security patrols, CCTV cameras, and Harbourguard boat monitoring to ensure the highest possible levels of security for your peace of mind.
When can I fill up with fuel?
Red diesel and petrol are available 24 hours a day. During the hours of darkness, please contact the berthing master to make arrangements. We also sell bottled gas for stoves.
Where can I go for a day sail?
Staff at marina reception are always happy to pass on ideas and tips. Dieppe and Le Havre are popular, as well as Newhaven, Beachy Head, and Eastbourne to the east, and Shoreham, Littlehampton, to the west, and perhaps on to the Solent.
Where is the best place to berth my boat?
With more than 1,600 berths, there is a wide choice. Some like the vibrancy of mooring alongside the Waterfront's, others prefer the quieter berths in the inner harbour. We aim to meet your specific requirements, but the location depends on availability, your boat's length, beam and draught.
Our Marinas - Falmouth
Are there contractors on site, or locally, who can help me if I have a problem with my boat?
Yes. We have a fully equipped boatyard on site and a boatshed allowing repairs to be carried out undercover. There is also a 15-ton boatmover, 25-ton mobile crane and a 30-ton travel hoist. Storage ashore is available for up to 12 weeks.
How secure will my boat be?
We have 24-hour security so you can relax knowing your vessel is being well looked after.
What draught of boats can you take?
It all depends on the cycle of the tides. If your vessel has a draught over 6 ft, we recommend you contact the marina reception.
What services are there on the pontoons?
We can provide certain services directly to your berth for a weekly or monthly provision of services fee, subject to availability, connection and use. For further details, contact the marina office. Electricity costs 10p per unit, including VAT at five per cent. Water is free of charge.
What time do you close?
Our friendly and experienced staff are on hand to help 24-hours a day. Call in at our reception or contact our staff on VHF Channel 80.
When can I refuel?
Diesel is available 24-hours a day.
When is the Falmouth Regatta?
Saturday August 11th to Saturday August 18th. Almost every class of boat races and there is lots of onshore entertainment with live music, street entertainment, markets, carnival, and fireworks. Falmouth Classics is the first event held with a fleet of over 150 of the classic sailing boats providing a spectacular sight. There are also races for dinghies, modern keelboats and sports boats.
Where will my craft be berthed, and how much will it cost?
Our staff will allocate a berth depending on your requirements and availability within the marina. The cill across the middle of the marina dries at certain states of the tide, but it is still possible to get out three hours either side of high water. Cost depends on the length of your vessel.
