Clean And Be Green - Be Part Of The Pick

Date: Add this to my calendar

On Saturday 25th May, the Southsea team will be organising a sociable litter picking event followed by lunch at the marina.

A two hour clean-up activity to help keep the local area tidy and free from plastic, it is the chance to put ‘green intentions’ into action.

Meeting at 10am at the Marina Reception, the litter pick will begin at the foreshore, with the intention of walking along the shingle ridge and up to Milton Common and back, time permitting. On arriving back at the marina, volunteers are welcome to stay for a complimentary burger or jacket potato lunch at the Marina Bar.

Rupert Bremer, Southsea Marina Manager, is passionate about the marina team doing its bit in combating plastic pollution and said: We have seen a considerable uplift in awareness and engagement relating to plastic reduction and documentaries such as ‘Blue Planet’ highlight that beach and ocean litter is a serious concern. At Southsea Marina we hope that by improving the environment on our doorstep, it will encourage others to recycle as much as possible and cut down on single-use plastic”.

Free to attend. Gloves and bin bags will be supplied on the day. Open to all ages and abilities; small litter heroes will be warmly welcomed!
