Enhanced Dredging Programme In April
Early April will see Gosport Marina begin its annual maintenance dredging programme. The dredger will start in the area where there is a greater quantity of siltation. The enhanced project is expected to last approximately 1 month and will be using the most effective backhoe dredging method; taking out approximately 9000 cubic metres of silt.
Graham Bristowe, Portsmouth Harbour General Manager said: “A number of pontoon fingers will need to be removed to gain access to certain areas, however, we will use this time to replace finger bolts, nuts, washers and rubbers as part of Gosport’s overall maintenance programme. We will also try to dredge as many areas as our licence will allow over this period”.
While the dredging is taking place, disruption will be kept to a minimum and passage in and out of the marina will still be available as normal. We will update berth holders and visitors in due course, once dredging dates have been finalised.
