Second Seabin Installed At Southsea Marina
Following the successful launch of a Seabin at Port Solent Marina in June, we’re delighted to announce a second bin has been installed at Southsea Marina.
In partnership with Helistrat Environmental Consultants, the new bin can collect up to ½ tonne of floating debris per year, including microplastics as small as 2mm.
The bin will be emptied twice a day by one of the Southsea team and on retrieval from the water, the material from the Seabin catch bag is sorted to extract recyclable materials, including plastics, which are sent to re-processors.
Premier Marinas takes its commitment to the environment very seriously and the installation of this second bin is part of the company’s initiative to work towards a cleaner marine environment.
Rupert Bremer, Marina Manager at Southsea added: “Never has the phrase “suck it up” been more appropriate! I am really pleased we are now able to do our bit to combat plastic pollution 24 hours a day.”
