Gosport Marina's Phased Dredging Continues
Following Gosport Marina's pre-dredge survey back in early January, we can confirm that the main dredge will start early March 2019. The dredging campaign is being undertaken to maintain the depths in the marina basin, and is part of our annual marina maintenance programme.
This dredge is taking place much earlier than in previous years in order reduce any inconvenience to berth holders. Premier has invested £100,000 in this project, which is necessary to carry out due to incoming silt from the harbour. Where Gosport does not have a lock or a cill, it doesn’t have the same protection as other marinas and is open to the elements, such as the forces of tide and weather. Approximately 9000 cubic metres will be removed and then deposited at the Nab Tower disposal grounds.
Any berth holders expected to be affected by the dredging will be contacted directly by the marina, with all works expected to be completed prior to the summer.
