Annual Lock Shutdown At Sovereign Harbour Marina
Sovereign Harbour Marina will be shutting down and de-watering lock 1 – the lock furthest from the Marina Reception – to carry out essential pre-emptive, annual maintenance. The lock shutdown will take place from Tuesday 5th March through to Friday 5th April.
The work is being undertaken by the Premier maintenance team, with a view to work on lock maintenance taking place to keep the locks running smoothly ahead of the upcoming summer season. This occurs each year but happens on alternate locks so that there is always one lock running. With lock 2 closed last year, this year provides the chance to refurbish parts of lock 1.
Daniel Heckford the Marina Manager said, “February, March and April are busy months for the maintenance team at Eastbourne. It is the best opportunity to tackle maintenance projects before the start of the season. The annual lock shutdown will follow a similar programme to previous years, with a complete de-water, and service works to seals, bearings, anodes and pins.”
