Southsea Marina Beach Clean Up
On Saturday 25th May the Southsea Marina team arranged a ‘Sociable Litter Picking’ event and were joined by around 50 berth holders and their guests. The litter picking heroes, led by Southsea Marina Berthing Master, Liam Feasey, made their way in the glorious sunshine from the Marina Reception down to the foreshore, along the shingle ridge and towards Milton Common and back on a 2 hour mission to rid the area of plastics and other detritus.
On arriving back at the marina, the volunteers were invited to stay for a complimentary burger or jacket potato served up by the Marina Bar, and were also given a re-useable water bottle as a token of thanks for their hard work on the day. The event proved a great success with many participants keen to do a similar event again soon. The litter picking allowed participants to put their ‘green intentions’ into action and actively help out their local environment to keep it tidy and free of plastics and other waste.
Rupert Bremer, Southsea Marina Manager stated; “I am delighted that so many people participated and that it was such a productive exercise. At Southsea Marina we are determined to help the environment in anyway we can, and hopefully this is can help encourage others to recycle and to look after the local area.”
