New Home for Dartmouth Bats
Premier Marinas recently completed work on a new bat barn to help house the many different species of bat that live in the area. Following consultations with ecologists, Premier put together plans to support the local bat species to allow them to continue to thrive.
It is believed that South Hams holds the largest population of Greater horseshoe bat in the UK, so it is important to support this species, and others, and provide them with the necessary space to roost and to feed. The bat barn has louvered access for smaller bats to enter and exit and a larger ‘fly in’ entrance on the back for larger species.
The new bat barn was built in conjunction with experts, and they advise that the bat barn should be left alone at all times.
