Winter Infrastructure Works Update
Since mid-October Southsea Marina has undertaken a number of winter projects to maintain and improve the marina infrastructure. Included in this work was the replacement of the J Pontoon bridgehead which has been completed.
The marina team has also started the cill-side crane project which saw the cill shut from 11th – 18th November. The stop logs were deployed and the chamber was pumped out to allow the engineer to carry out routine inspections to ensure everything is in good working order in the cill. Apart from the replacement of some of the pins and bushes which needed to be fabricated, the cill had no other issues.
The cill-side static crane project is progressing well with the piles driven in and filled with concrete and the concrete base for the crane also completed. The bespoke Pilar crane unit (currently being built off site) will be in place to provide a back-up to the cill mechanisms in the event of a failure. The crane is expected to be fully operational by January 2020.
Work on Southsea’s boatyard segregation project is soon to commence and will see new posts and chains deployed around the marina perimeter. These chains also have signs on, with berth holders advised to follow their directives for their own safety around the marina.
Premier would like to thank berth holders for their patience whilst these important works are carried out.
