Sovereign Shines Supports Local Charities
On Friday 10th December berth holders and the local community braved the cold weather to enjoy Sovereign Shines to raise money for the RNLI Eastbourne and Care for the Carers, East Sussex.
So far we have raised an amazing £1,057 in total for the two charities and will be collecting for them until the end of December 2021. You can still make your donation here.
We would like to give a special mention to the Sovereign Harbour Berth Holders' Association and The Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour who have worked tirelessly to spread the word, bringing in a fantastic array of prizes and taking part in judging the competition. See the full winner’s line up here.
Alongside the light spectacle, the evening event hosted at The Waterfront included a heart-warming performance from local youth choir, The Theatre Workshop and an upbeat performance from Eastbourne Rock Choir, with its 40 members.
An array of Christmas market stalls enticed customers with exquisite local quality produce and gifts and a real reindeer family added to the festive ambiance. More Radio were also there playing the very best Christmas hits and entertaining the public with commentary.
Daniel Heckford, Marina Manager said: “This year’s Sovereign Shines event was really well attended and feedback was incredibly positive from both the local businesses and people who enjoyed the entertainment. Our berth holders and the wider harbour community all got involved in the Christmas light spectacle bringing some festive cheer to The Waterfront and raising much needed funds for the Eastbourne RNLI lifeboat and Care for the Carers, East Sussex”.
Thank you again to everyone who got involved and donated. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
