Kickstarting Success At Gosport Marina
Jack Zotsch, 20, joined our Gosport team in early July as part of the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, and we’re thrilled to announce he has been offered a permanent position as Night Berthing Operative.
The Kickstart Scheme provides support to help people aged 16 to 24 facing long-term unemployment find new careers. Premier Marinas registered as a business interested in introducing young people to the industry and, as a result, Jack was given the opportunity to work at Gosport Marina and learn about the day-to-day operations of the marina.
“In the time I’ve been with Premier I have developed so many new skills, particularly in the areas of marina operations and the dry stack” said Jack. "The staff at Gosport have been so welcoming and knowledgeable, helping me in the early stages when I wasn’t confident with certain tasks. I own my own kayak and absolutely love being out on the water – now I’ve secured a full time position as Night Berthing Operative, I am really excited for the future.”
Jonathan Walcroft, Marina Manager added: “We are incredibly proud of Jack, he had never worked in this industry before and truly embraced the role – pitching in to help with daily duties, from answering the phone and dealing with enquiries to providing practical assistance to our berth holders and visitors. We're thrilled that the Kickstart programme has allowed Jack to gain new skills and allow Premier to now offer him a permanent position. It’s great to be able to add someone else to the team who is truly enthusiastic about the industry and our company."
