Berth Holder Embarks On Charity Sail

This summer, Sovereign Harbour berth holder, Mike Hopkins is embarking on a circumnavigation of the British Isles in his boat, the ‘Sea Wanderer’ to raise awareness and funds for the palliative, neurological and bereavement support charity, Sue Ryder.

Mike, a retired Chief Executive, will set off in June and hopes to complete the 2500-3500 miles voyage in around 3 months. He also hopes to raise £20,000 in the process and will be visiting as many Sue Ryder hospices and neurological care centres along the way. Click here to support Mike’s incredible fundraising sail.

“I am really looking forward to navigating the UK coastline whilst raising awareness and funds for this fantastic charity,” said Mike. "The challenge is absolutely huge and the prospect is quite terrifying, however, whilst daunting I am determined to face it head on and raise as much money as possible.”

Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives; those who are living with terminal illness, with a neurological condition or have lost someone. For over 65 years their doctors, nurses and carers have given people the compassion and expert care they need. It costs the charity £55 million a year to keep their services running in hospices, care centres, people’s homes and in the local community.
