Brighton Marina Notice to Mariners 7 of 2018
Dredging of Brighton Main Entrance Channel
Mariners are advised that dredging of the main entrance channel will commence on 25th May 2018 and last for approximately 6 weeks.
The vessel ‘Witton’ a spud leg backhoe dredger has a length of 22.5m and a beam of 9m. This will work in conjunction with ‘Split’ a hopper barge 52m long beam 9m. They will be operating predominantly in the main entrance channel and adjacent fairways. The barge Split will also leave the marina to deposit its load at the disposal site near the red marker buoy 400m east of the Eastern breakwater.
Both vessels are restricted in their ability to manoeuvre and will restrict width within the marina entrance channel. They will display day signals in accordance with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 (COLREGS), Marine Safety Act and Marine Safety Regulations.
Mariners are advised to navigate with due caution at all times and to monitor VHF CH 80 and 37 for announcements.
