Southsea Marina Angling Club is a friendly group made up of people who fish from boats berthed in the marina. Established in 2013, it has over fifty members and twenty five members boats berthed in the marina.
Member meetings are usually at 19.30 on the first Tuesday of every month at the onsite Marina Bar - depending on government guidelines the club plans to have an outside meeting on Tuesday 4th May.
The club’s annual competition will run from 29th March 2021 to 31st January 2022, for specific species and highest score. A Presentation Night will be held on Saturday 10th July 2021. February Fish of the Month was donated to Steve Andrews for keeping everyone informed about club business during COVID-19 times.
The annual membership fee is only £20.00 and includes a summer BBQ and a variety of competitions, such as a ‘Fish of the Month’ with a cash prize and medal.
The club has a filleting/fish cleaning station, weigh scales and a lock-up shed, along with bait and ice for sale at the Marina Reception. An activity that lends itself well to social distancing and encourages mental and physical wellness, for further details on becoming a member, contact Steve Kelly on Lady Elsa.
The club is a member of the Angling Trust and has a Facebook Page.
