New Brighton Yacht Club Set To Open Next Month

Date:

After many years of hard work and negotiation, Premier Marinas is pleased to announce that Brighton Marina’s Yacht Club is soon to relocate to a new clubhouse. The new premises on a floating pontoon will be situated between pontoons 6 and 7 off the western concourse, next door to the current Lagoon Watersports office.

This type of build and construction is still cutting edge within the UK, although more common place in Holland, where dry land is at a premium.  Marian owners Brunswick Developments have covered the vast majority of the new build costs, with Brighton Marina Yacht Club now actively fund-raising to ensure that the new club is well fitted out and offers a warm welcome to all its users.

Brighton Marina berth holders may have already seen the structure under construction, currently moored on the fuel pontoon. It's taking shape rapidly and will soon be towed to its new home, ready for an official launch in July. Those familiar with the current Club House will see this new building as a great step forward in offering a hospitable environment for boaters within the marina.

Pete Tyler, House Director at Brighton Marina Yacht Club said: “This summer will be a fantastic time to become a BMYC member, with the new premises breathing new life into the club and hopefully attracting new members, both sailing and social. The new Club House will offer a range of good-quality food and drink from the galley and bar and is set to become a focal point within the marina.”

Dan Heckford, Marina Manager said: "Brighton Marina has been a recognised yacht racing venue for a long time. Having a fully functional yacht club catering for all classes makes this possible. I look forward to welcoming the club into its new position on the west jetty and wish the team every success. Having the new club up and running will be an asset to the marina and I would encourage our berth holders to have a look at what the yacht club can offer".

BMYC membership is extremely reasonable with a range of tariffs for singles and families with an attractive ‘Social Membership’ for those who wish to take the opportunity to mix with like-minded enthusiasts.
