Premier’s Southsea Fishing Show Goes Swimmingly
This Easter weekend saw a number of Premier events including Southsea Marina’s first ever Fishing Show, that offered like-minded people the chance to exchange fishing tips and purchase the latest fishing equipment, bait and tackle.
Those looking to make a big purchase had the chance to browse a selection of new and used fishing boats from local boat dealers, Sea Ventures, Sussex Boat Shop, Just Fishing and Golden Arrow Marine.
Representatives from marine electronics manufacturers and resellers, Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad and Landau UK were also on hand to give interactive demonstrations on the latest fish finding equipment and offer other marine products.
Those looking for traditional fishing wares found them in the main marquee where anchors, ropes and safety flares were all on offer as well as fishing roads. Allan's Marine tackle shop reported a fantastic day of sales, selling over £1000 worth of products and many berth holders either sold out completely at their boat jumble or came away with a bargain.
Alongside the exhibitor stalls, the RNLI charity checked 12 lifejackets over the course of the day and provided general information on safety at sea and chef Ilson Junior from Loch Fyne seafood restaurant served up fresh oysters. Members of the Horizon Angling Club for the Disabled and Southsea Marina Angling Club were also out in force to share their passion and Steve Kelly, a representative from the Southsea Marina club said that the event brought a number of enquiries from people interested in signing up to the club.
Over 600 novices and enthusiasts braved the weather to support the event, which Premier Marinas hopes will become an annual affair.
Marina Manager, Rupert Bremier said: “We put the day on to try to support the angling club that is here within the marina. The day has been really successful given the weather and everyone seems to have enjoyed it”.
