Dockmaster – Swanwick Marina

The position of "Dockmaster" has become available at Premier's Swanwick Marina. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual, with a flexible work ethic, to join a fast-paced team on a busy marina in a great location on the River Hamble.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
  • Ability to understand and deliver excellent customer service
  • Flexibility and adaptability to both marina and boatyard operations
  • Ability to learn and use computer software systems
  • “A can do” attitude and flexible approach to team work
This role includes working outdoors in all weather conditions on a shift rota which will include some weekends, bank/public holidays and nights.  
The normal shift pattern will be 4 x 12 hour day shifts (7am-7pm) on and 4 days off followed by 4 x 12 hour night shifts (7pm-7am) on and 4 days off – this is however subject to change due to seasonal requirements and business needs.

Previous experience would be a major advantage but training, where required, will be given. A full diving license is essential.

Relief Lock Keeper – Sovereign Harbour Marina, Eastbourne

Premier Marinas, owner and operator of Sovereign Harbour Marina, is looking for a full time Relief Lock Keeper. You will be part of a small, hardworking team dealing with berth holders and visitors needs at a 24 hour marina.

As part of the Premier Marinas group, Sovereign Harbour is dedicated to offering excellent standards of customer service and facilities. The varied tasks of a Relief Lock Keeper will include controlling lock movements in and out of the marina, boat handling/towing, serving fuel and working in the busy reception area. The Relief Lock Keeper works as part of 12 hour day & night shift rota which covers 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays. The relief lock keeper role therefore requires a degree of flexibility with regard to working hours. There are 4 fixed rotated lock keepers and the relief lock keeper covers their absence (Sickness or Holiday) and will be given a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice for the following month’s shifts.

Knowledge of boats and cash handling would be advantageous together with a familiarity of modern office computer systems. This role requires you to work outside in all weather conditions and you must be confident on and around water.

Marina Maintenance Operative - Sovereign Harbour Marina, Eastbourne Premier Marinas Sovereign Harbour is seeking to appoint a full time Marina Maintenance Operative.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant displaying transferable skills from a similar discipline such as fabricator, caretaker, facilities maintenance or general trades.

Duties will include:
  • General repair and maintenance of marina pontoons, services, facilities and lock / bridge systems.
  • Carrying out tasks as directed by Duty Managers to ensure high standards of all maintenance and facilities availability whilst also overseeing maintenance schedules to maximise the efficient completion of planned works.
Ideal Candidates will demonstrate:
  • Experience of Risk Assessments and Safe operating procedures in a harsh working environment.
  • Practical experience in the following areas: Hydraulic / pressure systems, Basic woodwork, Plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.Must be flexible in approach to resolving problems and be a good communicator.

Part Time Seasonal Support - Premier Marinas

Premier’s now recruiting for spring/summer seasonal support staff to work at its marinas. This is a great opportunity for individuals to learn new skills whilst enjoying working life in a unique environment. Successful applicants will be flexible, reliable and keen to be part of a team. Hours are not guaranteed and may vary (sometimes at short notice) to include day, evening, night, weekend and bank holiday work – occasionally across more than one local marina. Duties may include:
  • Assisting with administration
  • Serving fuel
  • Moving boats
  • Greeting customers
  • Carrying out boat checks
  • Assisting with lock operations
