At Premier we take the safety at our marinas very seriously.

Every single person, including staff, visitors and contractors, plays a part in keeping the marina safe for themselves and for others. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with our marina rules and emergency procedures. Doing this could save a life.

You will find rules and regulations displayed in key areas around our marinas, for example at pontoon entrances and on our fuel pontoons. You will also find them in your berth holder details and visitor information packs.

In an emergency

  1. Please do not try to tackle the incident yourself unless you are appropriately trained for the incident at hand AND it is safe to do so.
  2. In the event of an evacuation, leave immediately and head for the nearest Fire Assembly Point. If the route is blocked, make your way to the nearest Water Evacuation Point.
  3. Please follow instructions from marina staff, security and the emergency services.

General safety advice

First aid is available from the marina’s reception 24 hours a day. Please locate and familiarise yourself with the positions of the marina safety boxes, which are located on our pontoons. Nearby you will also find emergency ladders and we also have defibrillators on all our sites.

Please only use rescue equipment in the event of an emergency and be sure to advise marina reception if you use any of the equipment. Please remember that misuse of this equipment may have life-threatening ramifications. Please report all accidents and potential hazards to marina reception immediately.

In the marina

While you are in the marina, please keep your vessel speed to less than five knots and avoid creating wash. It is strictly forbidden to swim, fish or scuba dive in the marina, or to sail or row boats. Also, please do not use BBQs in the marina on boats, jetties or pontoons as they present a fire risk.

On the pontoons

Watch out for slippery pontoons, especially in wet or icy conditions. Pontoons should be clear of materials and equipment, including tenders and any other items. Please ensure anchors and davits are not overhanging walkways. Please also take care to use the correct size and quantity of mooring lines for your boat.

Keeping children safe

Children should wear suitable lifejackets and should always be supervised when near the water. Please do not ride, or allow children to ride in the marina trolleys. Bicycles, scooters or skateboards should not be used on the marina pontoons or jetties for the safety of everyone using the marina.

Fire safety in the marina

Please locate and note the position of Fire Assembly and Water Evacuation Points. You should install a smoke alarm onboard and test it regularly – this is one of the simplest ways to reduce fire risk. Check that your fire extinguishers and fire blanket are serviceable. Check electrical heaters, dehumidifiers and 240v equipment on leaving your vessel.

Gas and fuel safety

Please keep minimum stores of petrol, diesel and gas on your vessel. Ensure all gas installations are in sound condition and are checked regularly by a qualified registered contractor. Make sure your gas bottle (LPG) is secured and kept away from heat sources and always isolate fuel and gas each time you leave your vessel.

On the fuel pontoon

Specific rules apply on our fuel pontoons in order to keep everyone safe. These include NO smoking or naked flames. Mobile phones, VHF radios, engines and cooking appliances should all be turned off. Please maintain awareness and ensure that any instructions given by Premier Marinas’ staff are followed.

Boatyard safety

Please keep clear of vessels and machinery involved in lifting operations and stay clear of the working area until Premier staff indicate it’s safe to enter. Please do not remove the supports from your vessel in the yard. It’s also important to read the safety instructions on the electricity supply pod before connecting your boat to the supply and ensure electrical leads are checked by a qualified person on a regular basis.
