We take the safety of everyone attending our sites very seriously.

In the coming days we are anticipating strong winds, heavy rain and further icy conditions across the South Coast and we wanted to share some advice and assurances ahead of the bad weather.

SOUTHSEA WIND CHECK NW Mixed Content Block

We're always here to help!

We have members of staff onsite at all locations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, conducting regular pontoon walks, checking lines and fenders.

Our staff conduct extra checks during the more severe weather but we encourage you to conduct your own checks, alongside ensuring any tenders or loose items are secured or removed.

Slips, trips and broken hips!

Whilst our teams take the utmost care to ensure the main walkways are salted and as safe as possible, adverse weather can sometimes make it difficult to keep all areas clear or gritted. Please take care and keep an eye out for any icy patches on the pontoons or ashore.

If you are visiting the marina on your own, please do pop into the marina reception to say hello to our teams and let them know you are onsite.

Frozen Taps Mixed

Winterising the water supply

Freezing temperatures can cause water pipes and taps on pontoons to freeze, causing damage and leaks. To reduce this risk, the water supply to pontoons may be turned off periodically across our sites during the winter months.

To help protect your boat, we also recommend draining your plumbing systems. This reduces the risk of frozen or stagnant water and helps prevent the growth of mould and bacteria.

Beware of cold water shock!

All our marinas have safety equipment available on the pontoons but please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the RNLI 'Float to Live' campaign and advice on cold water shock:

1. Take a minute for cold water effects to pass.
2. Relax and 'Float to Live' - float on your back to catch your breath.
3. Keep calm and call for help or swim to safety.

During periods of severe weather conditions including this coming weekend, to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff, please do not stay aboard your boat.
