Restart a Heart is a UK-wide campaign led by the Resuscitation Council UK that takes place every October, aiming to teach more people CPR and defibrillator awareness, so that someone who suffers a cardiac arrest has a better chance of surviving.

Learning CPR is an invaluable skill and could make the difference in saving someone’s life.

We partnered with Red Square Medical to host two free Restart A Heart sessions for berth holders from across our marina network in support of this year's campaign.

The sessions were hosted at The Crate in Trafalgar Wharf and Riverside Social in Universal Marina, with 30+ attendees involved on each day.

Each session covered basic life support techniques including how to assess a person for cardiac arrest, how to carry out CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and highlighted some important statistics and questions around what to do in an emergency.

We want to say thank you to everyone who joined this event. The enthusiasm and engagement from attendees helped make both sessions a huge success and hopefully all involved found the sessions informative and valuable for building on their knowledge and confidence on how to act in the event of an emergency.

We also want to share a special thank you to Liz Baugh for volunteering her time to deliver the training and tailoring our sessions specifically for carrying out CPR when out on your boat. Liz is a Fleet Medical Director with over 27 years experience working across the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy, Offshore, Expedition Cruise and Superyacht sectors.

As requested, please see the link below to Restart a Heart campaign resources covering topics and questions raised during each session.
