Upcoming Events at Eastbourne Marina

We have teamed up with Sovereign Harbour Berth Holders' Association to bring you a calendar of exciting events over the next few months including Sovereign Shines and a number of different workshops for you to take part in. See below for a full list of events happening at the South Coast marina.
Sovereign Shines in December
Light up your boat and the harbour from 2nd December through to 31st in aid of our local lifeboat. Prizes up for grabs are: Seago Proactive 190n Automatics Lifejacket, £20 voucher for Tim Nicholls Chandlery and a £20 voucher for Eurotek Marine for the best boat on each harbour. 27th January 2018 - Positions and bearings (A practical course)
The positions and bearing course is to be held on 27th January 2018. This will be linked to a treasure hunt in the Bay later in the year.
17th February 2018 Splosh!!!
Another chance to try out that safety gear in a safe (and warm!) setting of Motcombe Pool. Liferaft boarding opportunities will be on offer alongside other examples of safety equipment. Wear your wet weather gear if you like!
10th March 2018 - Crossing the shipping lanes
This course will be followed by a French themed lunch. Draw on the vast experience of Mark Sawyer, Lifeboat Coxswain, who will guide you through the do’s and don’ts of venturing further afield.
14/15th April 2018 - Safety weekend

Flares Amnesty by the locks. Life jacket checks along with other attractions and offers.
14th April 2018 - Transiting the lock
Own boat tuition to improve your skill in transiting the lock at Eastbourne Marina. Premier will also be giving lock etiquette workshops.
15th April - MOB Demonstration
It can (and does) happen in the harbour MOB demonstration including recovery. Life jacket checks along with other attractions and offers.
Throughout the summer there will also be a Treasure Hunt competition. Clues will appear in the May newsletter and you can complete the tasks and answers at your leisure on a day to suit you.
We also have a number of other events in planning.
A weekend visit to the RNLI Training Facility in Poole with a guided tour which will include the simulator.

A talk by English Braids followed by a couple of workshops. Likely content to include ropes and cleats tuition and a chance to learn the art of splicing.
Basic First Aid course and the opportunity to go on to complete the RYA certificated course if you wish.
Anchoring workshop - the theory in the warm and the practice on the water! And once you have learnt the art of anchoring, why not try ‘Tea at Sea'? A waterborne picnic in the Bay with cakes for those taking part. Date to be arranged on a suitable tide. Location subject to weather conditions.
