Sovereign Harbour Lock Shutdown
Sovereign Harbour will be shutting down lock 1 – the lock furthest from the Marina Reception – for annual, pre-emptive maintenance. The lock will be shut from Monday 25th November – Tuesday 17th December with all 4 RAMs in the lock to be removed and the structure replaced.
The work is being undertaken by the Premier Maintenance team to keep the locks running smoothly ahead of next season. This kind of work occurs each year but happens on alternate locks so that there is always one lock running.
The Sovereign Harbour Marina team has also replaced one of the buoys that mark the entrance channel to the marina. This particular buoy had been in place for over 10 years and, despite being lifted and maintained annually during the dredge campaign, it has suffered from a loss of paint and age related damage. This has led to the team deciding to replace it for a brand new buoy.
