Preparing for a busy boating season
Our team has been working hard over the winter months to prepare for the season ahead. The road in the north-western part of the marina has been fully resurfaced and we have installed a concrete edging strip to provide a neater, more durable finish. Additional post-and-chain fencing will be introduced to enhance the security and help keep boats safe.
All facility blocks have been given a comprehensive refresh, including replacement vanity units and shower screens, alongside several shower mixer units upgraded, and new boilers installed in R and Z blocks to improve reliability and comfort. Our maintenance team has been busy cutting back overgrown foliage to keep the site in excellent condition and are also working on several new landscaping features that will add colour and visual interest around the marina.
A new feature has been introduced to the lock operation to help speed up turnaround times and improve overall efficiency for customers transiting the lock. We have also submitted a project to install a digital depth display into the lock which will show live depth readings and details of rising/falling tides and free flow on the Premier Marinas website and app.
Welcoming new and familiar faces
We are delighted to welcome three members to the Chichester team, including Craig Plummer who makes his return, providing an extra pair of hands in our busy boatyard. Kamen Bowden joins us as a Marina Operative, with a strong background in customer service and courtesy. And we also welcome Matt Bacon into our night team – although not faces you’ll see often, our night team play a vital role in the site security, conducting regular patrols and monitoring all CCTV cameras across the marina.
You’ll also see some familiar faces returning over the summer months to provide extra support with lock movements, throwing lines, fuelling and smiling faces around the marina.
Adventure and achievements
We were delighted to have a visit from Jess Rowe who together with Miriam Payne, recently completed an extraordinary row across the Pacific Ocean from Peru to Cairns, Australia. The team prepared their boat Seas the Day at Chichester Marina and became the first all-female, non-stop, unsupported crew to row more than 8,000 miles across the Pacific – an amazing achievement!
