Boskalis Westminster Limited wishes to advise that commencing on or around Sunday 7th September 2025. The Environment Agency have commissioned shingle replenishment works in the Pevensey Bay area between Langney Point and Cooden, mainly to the immediate east of Sovereign Harbour.

The approach to the discharge location is indicated in Figure1. The enclosed area should be kept clear of fishing equipment to avoid vessel damage and loss of equipment

The shingle will be delivered by the hopper dredger “Sospan Dau”. The vessel will sail from the dredge area at Owers Bank to the recharge area in  Pevensey Bay adjacent to Sovereign Harbour generally placed from the break water up to line 52 in Figure 2.

The delivery will take place from approximately 2 hours before high tide (HW) until 1 hour after each highwater.

The vessel will keep a listening watch on VHF channel16.

All Mariners, Fishermen, Yachtsmen and other recreational users of these waters are asked to provide a wide berth to the dredger, particularly when she makes her approach to the beach and during discharge operations close to the beach.

Mariners are to pass wide (More than 250m) of the vessel stern as there may be a temporary stern anchor deployed for the duration of the discharge.

The duration of the works is weather dependent, but this work is expected to be completed within three weeks.
