Gosport Marina's Dredging Programme This Summer
Dredging works at Gosport Marina are set to begin within the next 3 weeks and will be undertaken by ML Dredging with the aim of maintaining the marina’s depth within the permitted licence; the firm anticipates that the dredge will remove 9000m3 of material this year. Premier Marinas also intends to invest in a second phase of dredging towards the end of the year at the South Coast marina. The summer dredge coincides with the departure of the Clipper Fleet from the marina and Cowes Week and Fastnet commencing. The timing of the dredge aims to minimise disruption for berth holders and take advantage of the available marina space at that time to clear berths and remove fingers from pontoons.
Mark Phillp, Duty Manager at Gosport Marina said: “A number of pontoon fingers will need to be removed to gain access to certain areas, however, we will take advantage of the opportunity to replace finger bolts, nuts, washers and rubbers as part of Gosport Marina's overall maintenance programme. We will also try to dredge as many areas as our licence will allow over this period."
