New East Cardinal Navigation Mark at Falmouth Marina
Premier Marinas and specialist marine contractors KML Ltd completed works on Thursday 3rd May 2018 to replace the East Cardinal Navigation Mark at the entrance to Falmouth Marina.
After a December storm, the old East Cardinal mark was damaged; the pole holding the cardinal was old, corroded, bent and could not be repaired. Installing a new, more substantial pile and restoring the cardinal will maintain the navigation mark for many years to come. The mark in its previous state could have become a hazard – now that it has been replaced, the new navigation mark will safely mark the entrance channel to the South Coast marina for visitors and berth holders alike.
This £12,500 project was completed within a day due to extensive planning, liaising with the harbour master and KML Limited.
Mark Evans, Marina Manager, said: “I am very impressed with KML’s professional execution of the project, bringing over their large piling and crane barges and positioning them efficiently outside of the marina channel so that access to and from the marina was not affected. The end result is a smart new navigation mark that will last for years and aid customers access to the site.”
