How To Stay Safe Up A Ladder

Date:

Boatyard Ladder Procedure

Occasionally we find that a customer has taken a tumble whilst carrying out a boat repair - and usually it happened as the result of misuse of a ladder - or not using a ladder at all!

That’s why, as a valued customer, we we’d like to remind you about our safety protocols:

  • Always use a ladder when working at height or attempting to board your boat when its ashore.
  • Ladders used to access boats ashore must be suitable for the task, well maintained - and safely secured to the boat prior to boarding!
  • When not in use, remove your ladder, lock it at a low level or secure it with a device that will prevent access to the boat.
  • Do not park immediately under, or within 2 metres of your boat’s hull; working equipment should be deposited at the boat and cars returned to the car park.
