Swanwick Floating Marina Regeneration
With the New Year fast approaching, the regeneration project for the floating marina at Swanwick is showing no signs of slowing down. E pontoon is now complete with boats from F pontoon being temporarily moored there to facilitate the removal of the old F pontoon infrastructure. E pontoon is fully equipped with pontoon fendering, electricity and other pontoon services, whilst the second bridge head ramp has also been installed and is now in use. The former bridge head access point to the old E pontoon has been removed, with the gap now filled in.
F pontoon has been completely removed in preparation for ML Dredging to come in and proceed with removing silt to 2m below chart datum. The piling rig is onsite and ready to begin work in the New Year. Once the next phase of dredging has passed survey towards the end of January, the rig will move into the remaining area where G pontoon will be located to allow Walcon Marine to start installing the pontoons, piles and pontoon services on the new F pontoon.
On completion, work will commence on installing G pontoon which will create space for additional berthing at Swanwick Marina and thus bringing the floating marina regeneration to a close. The future developments at Swanwick Marina will be land based and the proposed buildings include the new Boat Sales Building, a new Bridgehead Entrance Building and a new Marina Facilities Building providing berth holder café and restaurant facilities. This work is subject to planning permission being granted which Premier expects to have a decision on by the end of March.
