A second Kickstart success at Gosport Marina

Matthew Trubridge joined the Gosport Marina team in June 2021 as part of the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, and we are delighted to announce he has been offered a permanent position as Night Berthing Operative.

The Kickstart Scheme provides support to people aged 16 to 24 facing long-term unemployment and helps them find new careers. Premier Marinas registered to support the scheme in 2021, focused on introducing more young people to the marine industry. As a result, Matthew was given the opportunity to work at Gosport Marina and learn about the day-to-day operations of the marina.

I feel honoured and very lucky to have this opportunity to become a permanent part of the team here at Gosport Marina,” comments Matthew. “The marina environment is very welcoming and the way in which the team works is outstanding. It is great to be working by the waterfront in the harbour and interacting with the super friendly customers.”

Matthew is taking on the Night Berthing Operative role from Jack Zotsch, our first Kickstart success who has moved into a Marina Operative role after being taken on permanently last October.

Jonathan Walcroft, Marina Manager added: “I am delighted to be in a position to expand our team and to support two young individuals into securing employment opportunities. Both Jack and Matthew are brilliant additions to the team and have both got stuck in - willing to learn everything about the marina and marine industry.”
