Kick-starting Careers at Port Solent Marina
We are extremely proud to be involved in the Government’s Kickstart Scheme and welcome Kieran Doswell to the Port Solent Marina team.
The Kickstart programme provides opportunities for 16-24 year olds currently unemployed and in receipt of Universal Credit to experience and explore employment in a range of different roles and industries. Premier has already placed 7 Kickstart candidates in various roles across the business, with 3 individuals already progressing to secure permanent roles with us.
Kieran joined the team at the start of the year following the successful completion of a Uniformed Services Course at Highbury College - gaining merits in all 3 units. His 6 month placement at Port Solent includes helping the wider team in their daily operations, administration and responding to customer enquiries, whilst also experiencing life in a marina and being out on the water.
"I'm excited to be joining the team at Port Solent and learning more about the marine business," he says. “As my long-term goal is to join the Royal Navy, it's a perfect place to start and learn the fundamentals of seamanship and boat maintenance. I enjoy socialising with friends and family outside of work, so I'm sure I'll appreciate the sociable aspect of working in a marina and meeting our berth holders."
