Dartmouth Mayflower River Parade 2021
Add this to my calendar
As part of the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, The Mayflower River Parade will take place on Saturday 28th August 2021 with Premier Marinas as main sponsors for the event.
This parade will bring together as many boats as possible to create a magnificent spectacle commemorating the historic Mayflower 400th anniversary. The procession will begin from Premier’s Noss on Dart Marina at 2.30pm where participating boats will be marshalled into groups of 6-9 via VHF and head downriver to salute a dignitary in the Flagship.
Organisers anticipate the following minimum requirements for entry:
• Boats able to maintain a controlled passage speed of 3 knots,
• Must be propelled by either a motor or manpower with oars; sails will not be hoisted.
• Boats and skipper must be suitable insured.
Registration is open for the River Parade and all participants will receive a Dartmouth Mayflower 400 ‘Battle Flag’. And with all boats in the armada ‘dressed to the nines’, there will also be a selection of prizes awarded at the event including Best Dressed Vessel, Best Salute and the Grockel Cup – awarded to the craft which has contributed the most in terms of appearance and crew participation.
The Mayflower team have also put together an exciting programme of events at the Flavel Art Centre from Thursday 26th to Saturday 28th August to run alongside the Mayflower River Parade. The Flavel events have something for everyone including a children’s storyteller, workshops, talks, films and musical events. Find out more here.
