Celebrating 30 Years Anniversary

April marked a special time for Duty Manager, Mark Dash, as it was this month in 1991 that he joined our team at Falmouth Marina.

Born and bred in Falmouth, Mark is a true local, living minutes from the marina and just around the corner from the house where he was born. Beginning his career as a deckhand on the St Mawes Ferry at the age of sixteen, Mark continued training for a life at sea. At the age of nineteen, he passed his DTI and Harbour Master Skipper exams making him the youngest skipper in Falmouth Harbour.

Mark joined Falmouth Marina in 1991, cleaning the facilities and quickly advanced to the role of Berthing Master. Following Premier’s acquisition of the marina in 1997, Mark has continued to be a dedicated member of the team, progressing in the roles of Dockmaster, Senior Dockmaster and now Duty Manager since 2011.

In Mark’s own words…

“I fell into the job because my father in-law was the Managing Director of Falmouth Marina at the time. On reflection though, it is my dream job. Alongside a varied line of day to day duties I’ve gained my electrical and welding qualifications. Over the years both have provided me with the skills to assist the management of a variety of major projects, including the installation of F pontoon and the delivery of the 2011 dredge project outside the Cill. I would say, the proudest moment in my career was when I was promoted to Duty Manager; it is a privilege to work in such a lovely environment and have the opportunity to develop long-standing relationships with berth holders.”
